Second Sri-Lanka Order Confirms Global Reach of Binz Brand


Investing in a funeral fleet is not something that is done lightly. But how much more difficult can that decision be, if your vehicle manufacturer lies half-way around the globe? Yet for Gamini Jayaratne of Jayaratne Funeral Parlour, Colombo, Sri Lanka, choosing a Binz five-door hearse was not the leap in the dark that might at first sight appear.

Mr. Jayaratne had already had the chance to examine the quality and finish on a Binz supplied to Colombo's, Boralesgamuwa Florists, and knew that despite this hearse's European origins, the close relationship between its manufacturer and Mercedes-Benz meant that there would be no problems with local service and warranty support. Indeed, nearby main dealer Dimo is the only outlet on the island equipped with the STAR Diagnosis system used to support the E-Class electronics - and like any approved outlet, is automatically issued with Binz specific chassis software data through Mercedes-Benz as a matter of course. 

"Right from the start, it became clear that Jayaratne Funeral Parlour were looking for a vehicle that would complement the exceptional levels of service they already offered to their high-profile clientele. Though destined for the tropics rather than Torbay, the Jayaratne five-door hearse underwent the identical - and meticulous - pre-delivery inspection as that given to its sublings awaiting delivery to Binz's more usual UK and Eire customers. Jayaratne even received the same on-site instruction and familiarisation tour that comes as standard with every Binz at the time of handover - excepting that in this case the Binz team had to fly out to Colombo to deliver it!
