PRESS INFORMATION - FROM BINZ UK Private Ambulance To People Carrier For Stoneleigh Keeping on top of health and safety in the workplace can lead you into some interesting places. Just how interesting will be on display upon Binz UK's stand C2 at the National Funeral Exhibition, Stoneleigh Park, over the15th/17th June 2007. For while manual handling is usually an unwritten term in most delivery driver's contracts, it is the normally-conservative funeral profession which is in the van of actively demanding designs that can minimise the risk of back-related injuries caused by awkward lifting. Limousine and hearse supplier Binz UK's approach has been to go back to first principals, with a Mercedes-Benz Vito private ambulance package that has been designed in rather than bolted on, to the base commercial. "By taking existing industry innovations of collapsible stretchers and loading decks that can be raised and lowered at a touch of a button, and then matching each component to its partner, we can make people's jobs easier, whilst ensuring that all loads within the vehicle can always be safely secured", says Kevin Smith, the Company's sales director. Mindful of health and safety concerns within the profession, the collapsible stretchers have been arranged as such, to begin to fold by themselves once they engage with the deck's drop-down ramp. As Smith explains, "Their unique design also eliminates the need to lift the head end prior to fully collapsing the stretcher once on the vehicle - a movement that can sometimes be difficult to carry out in line with best practice." Binz has developed its ambulance around the Vito people-carrier specification shell, complete with heavily tinted side and tailgate windows. This enables funeral homes to carry out their services with a higher degree of discretion than might be the case with the more usual unmarked white van removal vehicle. Inside, the ambulance can be specified to a similar standard as the company's iF Design award-winning hearses, with walnut veneers in all the right places, and a full complement of brightwork. "This attention to detail is both a way of showing respect, and also underscores to clients their funeral director's commitment to the highest levels of care all the way from first call through to the day of the funeral", concludes Smith.
